SAMPLE OF AN ELOGOS Email:
Psalm 4:4-5 When you are disturbed, do not sin; ponder it on your beds, and be silent. Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the Lord. * * * * * * When I hear the ancient text speak of losing sleep, I appreciate what a quintessentially universal thing sleep is. I have a doctor friend who swears by sleep as having restorative power for maintaining good health. I have a dog who adores sleeping but on her terms. I have a friend whose 3 year old daughter wanted juice in the middle of the night and company. We take the day with us to bed and sometimes we are pulled from it by thoughts that won't let us go or by thirsty children. We can may not be able to make everything better but we can make it worse. The psalmist encourages us not to sin but do the best we can do and trust our restless hearts to the God who knows his children need to sleep in peace. * * * * * Holy God, for all the nights you have listened to your children cry, we crawl into the arms of your grace. Amen.

What readers of ELOGOS are saying:
The daily devotionals either start my day or end my day, so I’m directed during the day or at peace for a good night’s sleep. When Elogos is published I can delete all those I’ve saved on my computer for many months so I could read them again and again. Deb’s “down-to-earth interpretation” and explanation of each Bible verse puts the words into today’s language and life.
I have time to read this! This works for me. Not preachy, just real. No matter how busy I am, I can do this and it helps!
Martin Luther made the sign of the cross every morning when he woke up, right? I NEVER remember to do that but I read this note every day. Love it!
Not "devotional" at all. Just God and Deb, for a minute. I use the devotional pads as scrap paper on the back but I would not want to do without this on my screen every day.
The only "devotional" publication I read.
Don't want to miss any of these because some are aimed right at me, and Pastor Deb does not know that! Cool!
"If you want something that cuts to the core of what the Bible passage is and has an element of Deb's wonderful view of life and the world as well as the Bible, you'll find these daily readings a day-brightener. Thanks to Deb for putting these together---don't miss them!"
Each day brings a huge selection of possibilities. Reading ELOGOS helps remind me where to place my attention today. Focusing on the love of God realigns my thoughts and through that my actions. Being brought before God through Pastor Deb's words often makes my soul vibrate with the connection to our Father- available to all who ask for it. Thank you, Pastor Deb for these possibilities.
Elogos = a brief reading with day-to-day commentary and a prayer to move us all on to the day ahead. A blog it isn’t. A reminder of God’s love and directions to follow it is.
